Profile Header
Where: Profile tab
What you'll see
When you open the Profile tab, a card at the top displays your photo (or your initials on a coloured background if no photo has been set), your name, "Volunteer since YYYY", and any recognition badges you've earned.
Change your photo
Tap the small camera icon on the bottom-right corner of your photo.
A sheet opens with photo options. Choose your new photo.
A spinner appears over your photo while it uploads. Wait for it to finish before navigating away.
š Notes:
If there's no photo, volunteers see their initials on a coloured background. This is normal, not an error. A grey person icon is only shown as a fallback if initials are also unavailable.
The camera button is disabled during upload. If it appears stuck, ask the volunteer to check their connection and retry.
Personal Details
Where: Profile > Personal details
What you'll see
Your details are grouped into sections: Title, Preferred name, About me, Motivation, Accessibility info, plus any custom sections your organisation has added.
Edit your details
On the Personal details page, tap the section you want to edit (or its edit control).
Edit the field.
Title is a dropdown (Mr, Mrs, Mx, Miss, Ms, Dr); other fields are text or the option types your organisation has configured.
Tap Save changes to save, or Cancel to discard.
š Notes:
'I typed an emoji and got an error': this is expected. Preferred name and About me do not support emoji.
Empty dropdown/multi-choice fields are pre-filled with the organisation's default option on first edit. If a volunteer is surprised by a pre-selected value, this is why.
Validation errors appear under the specific field; server errors also announce at the top of the screen.
Contacts
Where: Profile > Contacts
What you'll see
Your contact details, email addresses, phone numbers, and postal addresses, are listed as read-only cards.
Edit your contacts
Tap the relevant card or section to open edit mode.
Update the fields, then tap Save changes (or Cancel to back out).
If there's a save error, it will appear inline at the bottom of the screen.
Emergency Contacts
Where: Profile > Emergency contacts
Add an emergency contact
Tap Add emergency contact.
Fill in First name, Last name, Contact phone number, and Relationship.
All four fields are required.
Tap Save changes.
Edit an emergency contact
Tap the pencil icon on a contact card, update the fields, and save.
Delete an emergency contact
Tap the trash icon on the contact card.
Tap Delete in the 'Are you sure?' popup.
š Notes:
Volunteers cannot delete their last remaining emergency contact. The delete option is unavailable when only one contact exists. This is by design.
Navigating back without saving discards changes.
Phone numbers are validated. If an entry is rejected, ask them to re-enter the number in a standard format.
Skills & Interests
Where: Profile > Skills & interests
What you'll see
Your skills, interests, and languages grouped by category.
Update your skills & interests
Tap a category to open it for editing.
Tick or untick the skills you want, then tap Save changes.
If your organisation allows it, you can add a brand-new skill by typing its name and creating it. It will be automatically selected for you.
Some categories include a free-text bio box. Use this to write about your experience in that area.
š Notes:
'I can't see an Edit option': The organisation may not have granted permission to update skills & interests.
'I can't create new skills': Dynamic skills aren't enabled for that organisation. Refer the volunteer to their org admin.
If a category the volunteer was editing was removed by the org in the meantime, the app returns them to the list. This is not a bug.
Diversity
Where: Profile > Diversity
Only visible if your organisation has enabled diversity data collection.
Update your diversity information
Tap Edit on the Diversity page.
Answer the questions shown. Note that some questions only appear depending on your earlier answers.
Tap Save. A 'Diversity information saved' confirmation will appear.
š Notes:
'The Diversity option isn't in my menu': The organisation hasn't enabled it. This is a feature flag, not a user setting.
Pressing the device Back button while editing exits edit mode first: This is expected behaviour.
Role profiles
Where: Profile > Role profiles
View your role profiles
Browse your assigned roles in the list.
Tap a role card to open its detail view. The description, requirements, and related information appear in a sheet.
š Notes:
'You don't have any assigned roles yet': The organisation hasn't assigned any roles to this volunteer. Direct them to their org admin.
'Failed to load role profiles': This is a connection issue. The Try Again button will retry the load.
Training catalogue
Where: Profile > Training
Find a course
Type in the search bar to filter courses by name.
You can also use the filter tabs (e.g. All / Outstanding / Completed), each tab shows a count of matching courses.
Pull down on the list to refresh it.
Take a course
Tap a course card to open the course detail screen, where you can view content and complete the course.
š Notes:
'No training found' with an active search: Ask the volunteer to clear the search or change the filter tab.
Load failures show a Try again button. Persistent failures are automatically reported via error monitoring.
Change password
Where: Profile > Change password
Only shown if you signed in with a password account.
Enter your current password.
Enter your new password. A checklist under the field shows requirements turning green as they're met.
Re-enter it in Confirm new password.
Tap Change password (the button is disabled until all fields are filled).
You will be signed out immediately, from both the app and the website. Sign back in with your new password.
ā ļø Important: Changing your password signs you out of the app and the website straight away. Make sure you remember your new password before confirming.
š Notes:
Please note that you will be signed out after a successful change.
Error 'Session expired': Sign in again.
Error 'No permission': Your organisation may require SSO.
Error 'Check your details': Your current password is likely incorrect.
Error 'Too many attempts': Wait a couple of minutes and try again.
If the option is missing entirely, the account type does not support in-app password change.
Resources
Where: Profile / Resources
Links
Tap Resources, then Links.
A list of links your organisation has published appears.
Tap any link card and it will open the web page in your browser.
Contact us
Tap Resources, then Contact Us.
Any custom contact information your organisation has provided is shown here.
To send a message, tap Send us a message and enter a subject and message, then tap Send.
A 'Message sent' confirmation appears. Your organisation will reply to you directly.
š Note: Empty Links or Contact Us pages mean the organisation has not published content yet. This is not a bug.
Replying and forwarding messages
Reply to a message
Open a message, then tap Reply or Reply all.
The compose screen opens with the original message shown below your typing area.
Type your reply at the top and send. The quoted history is included automatically.
Reply goes to the sender only. Reply all includes other recipients.
Forward a message
Open a message, then tap Forward.
The original message appears as a forwarded message block with From / Date / Subject / To / Cc details.
Add recipients, type any note above the quote, and send.
š Notes:
Subjects are cleaned automatically. No more "Re: Re: Re:" stacking.
If a volunteer's reply contains a code block, the app handles it correctly. No action needed.
